PRINERGY Portal: Ink Analytics is a licensed feature.

If this is a new installation of PRINERGY Portal, two things will happen:

  1. Your company will receive an email notification to the address of record. This user will need to log in and define Users and Roles. Then proceed to Creating Users and Roles for Ink Analytics.
  2. A Cloud Agent will need to be installed on your PRINERGY system to continuously upload analytics data. The Cloud Agent is an encrypted one to one channel that, in this case, uploads ink coverage data and Print Condition specifications to the PRINERGY Portal account.

If Ink Analytics has recently been added as a Service to your existing PRINERGY Portal account:

  1. Please review Creating a Role for Ink Analytics
  2. Please review Creating Resources and defining Print Conditions

In order to use INK ANALYTICS, Users must be created in PRINERGY Portal Administration Tab tab and assigned Roles that allow them to define Print Conditions and Resources Tab.

Once Print Conditions have been defined, they can be assigned to Jobs/Impositions in PRINERGY Workshop to calculate ink requirements. Print Conditions and quantities are specified in PRINERGY Workshop using either Job-level Custom Fields in the Job Finder or Imposition-level Custom Fields in the Separations tab of a Job.

There are a number of ways that Ink Analytics Print Condition parameters can be assigned.

  • Print Condition parameters can be manually entered into the custom fields by operators in PRINERGY Workshop
  • Parameters can be automatically assigned by Rules Based Automation (RBA) when Jobs are created in PRINERGY Workshop
  • Rules Based Automation (RBA) can populate the custom fields using a Read XML action to extract Print Condition parameters from an XML file written by an MIS system.
  • Prinergy Layout Automation (PLA) users can use Custom Fields in the PLA Job Ticket to pass Print Condition parameters onto PRINERGY at the time of Job or Layout creation.
