Lesson overview

Why you should complete this lesson
Read this lesson for information about connecting Prinergy with one or more HP digital presses in your digital workflow environment. This lesson includes installation and configuration procedures required to setup Prinergy with an HP front end.
In Prinergy Administrator, you can add an HP press as a managed connection in Prinergy Administrator. In Digital Submit and Digital Direct, or Workshop, this allows you to submit and process jobs using a JDF-enabled hot folder (ISV Account).
Digital Submit is configured by your system administrator. The types of digital presses and automated production targets that are listed in the Digital Submit window are based on your workflow system and business needs, such as the different types of digital presses that you have or if your workflow system uses RBA. Your system administrator or manager may provide you with guidelines to follow for creating jobs, depending on the types of digital presses that you have or if your workflow system uses Rules-Based Automation (RBA).

Digital Direct is configured by your system administrator. The types of digital presses that are listed in the Digital Direct window are based on the digital presses in your workflow system. Your system administrator or manager may provide you with guidelines to follow when submitting documents to digital presses.

Installation and configuration

The following provides an overview of the installation and configuration procedures required to set up Prinergy with an HP front end and/or a Creo Color Server.
For detailed instructions on the following procedures, see the Prinergy Digital Print Installation and Configuration Guide.

Set up an account to receive JDF files

This step involves creating and sharing an information service vendor account that will function as a JDF hot folder.

Connect Prinergy and the HP Production Flow server

  1. Set up communications between Prinergy and the HP controller.
This step sets up communication between Prinergy and the HP Production Flow or the HP Production Manager front end (the steps are the same for each). If you have several HP systems, you need to perform these steps for each system.
  2. Add the HP as a digital press
In Prinergy Administrator, using the Managed Connections tab, add the HP digital press and setup the JDF-enabled hot folder.
  3. Create process templates for the digital print documents that you want to send to the HP press.
