This procedure is suggested for customers running a Standalone version of Preps or those saving their resources locally on their workstations.

TIPS:

  • You do not need to use the utility or manually migrate resources when installing a minor Preps update.
  • You do not need to migrate items configured in a central folder (Folders tab in the Preferences). Instead, ensure that each Preps location points to the same folder, either by manually setting the Preferences dialog box at each location or by copying the profiles (configuration files) to each location.

Items that CAN be migrated:

  • Media(Preps 6 and newer)/Devices(Preps 5) - Location: Preps 9\Printers
  • Marks - Location: Preps 9\Marks
  • SmartMarks - Location: Preps 9\Marks\SmartMarks
  • Dupmarks - Location: Preps 9\Marks\dupmarks
  • Mark Fonts - Location: Preps 9\Rip\fonts
  • Templates - Location: Preps 9\Templates
  • Profiles* - Location: Preps 9\Profiles

Items that CANNOT be migrated:

  • Modified files in the Procsets folder. Location: Preps 9\Procsets. Use a text editor to copy the modifications—not the Procsets—to the newer Procsets folder.

Steps:

  1. Stop Preps (old and new versions).
  2. Select required folders from older version of Preps.
  3. Copy to new Preps folder structure.
  4. Launch new version of Preps to ensure all settings and resources are available.

Licensing:

A new license key may be required when upgrading Preps. Please see Licensing for additional details.
