Pandora toolbar identification
With the Pandora software open, complete the following steps:
- From the Help menu, verify that Show Tool Tips is currently selected.
Tool tips identify many items in the Pandora work area and dialog boxes and are useful when you are learning to use Pandora. Tool tips are turned on by default when you first install and start the software.
Roll the mouse over each icon displayed in the toolbar and use the tool tip to identify it. Make note of the name of each tool. View the function of each tool below.
From left to right, the tools are:New Creates a new job when selected. Open Launches the Open dialog box. Use the Open dialog box to open an existing job or job template.
Save Makes incremental saves to a job that already exists, or opens the Save As dialog box in order to provide a job with a name and a storage location. Print Opens the Print dialog box. The Print dialog box enables you to specify any output device to print to, or to output the job in a selected output file format. Import Artwork Provides a quick method of selecting artwork to use in a job. Import Die Provides a quick method of selecting a die to use in a job. Import Folder Provides a quick method of importing all the PDF artwork contained in a folder, and because you can have only one die per job, imports the first (alphanumeric) die in the folder. High Res Preview Provides a quick method of viewing artwork in high resolution. Selection Tool Selects the arrow key for selecting objects in a layout. This is the default tool. Bleed Tool Enables you to manually edit bleeds. The Bleed tool can be used to add a point to a bleed path, or delete a point from a bleed path. Overlap Tool When you select the Overlap tool from the toolbar, Pandora detects and highlights any overlapping bleeds. Use the Overlap tool to resolve all overlaps. Ruler Tool Enables you to accurately measure two points by distance, angle and amount of change. Zoom Tool Enables you to zoom in on objects in the layout view. Hand Tool Enables you to quickly move around in the layout view without having to use the scroll bars. StepRepeat Tool When you have an overall idea of what's required in the production process, and if the layout is simple, you can click the StepRepeat tool, select the artwork, and drag it to establish the number up that is required. Flip Side Tool If the defined work style for the Pandora job is two-sided, you can snap or manually align artwork to the die, select the Flip Side tool, select the die, and snap or manually align the artwork to be used on the opposite side to the die.
