You need to populate two different imposition plans with the same PDF pages. To accomplish this, you want to create one independent page set and use it with both imposition plans.

Create a job

  1. If it is not already open, start Prinergy Workshop.
  2. In Job Finder, right-click your main group, and choose New Job.
  3. Type the job name XX_Page_Set_Imposition (where <XX> represents your initials).
  4. Click Create.
  5. Minimize the Job Manager window.

Copy input files and imposition plans to the job folder

  1. From your workstation, locate: Prinergy Activity Practice Files / Act_15_Page Sets Advanced
  2. Copy the Input Files and Imposition folders.
  3. Restore Job Manager.
  4. Right-click the XX_Page_Set_Imposition job folder icon in the lower left corner of Job Manager. Select Open Job Folder in File Browser.
  5. In the XX_Page_Set_Imposition folder, open UserDefinedFolders.
  6. Paste the Input Files and Imposition folders into UserDefinedFolders.
  7. Close the job folder.

Add and refine an input file

  1. Right-click the Input Files pane and choose Add Input Files.
  2. In the Add Input Files dialog box, click the Job Folder button and locate: UserDefinedFolders/Input Files/ Wells.ps.
  3. Click the Add Selected button to add the file to the Files to Add list.
  4. In the Options section of the Add Input Files dialog box, select the Process Selected Files Using Process Template check box. and use the process template: Refine > Refine > 1stRef-Normz.
  5. In the Add Input Files dialog box, click OK.
  6. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.

Create a page set

  1. From the File menu, choose Add Page Set.
  2. In the Add Page Set dialog box, enter the following:
    • New Page Set Name: XXPageSet (where XX represents your initials).
    • Page Start: 1
    • Page Count: 8
  3. Click Add. View the addition of an empty page set in the Page Sets pane.

Assign PDF pages to the page set

  1. In the Pages pane, right-click Wells.p1.pdf and choose Select All Pages.
  2. Right-click any selected PDF page and select Assign Page to Position.
  3. In the Assign Pages to Page Set Position dialog box, verify that:
    • Positions is …Starting at 1
    • Page Position (p1) matches the page PDF page number (p1.pdf) and that every other page position is correctly assigned to the correct PDF page number.
  4. Click OK.

Import an imposition plan and use an existing page set

  1. Select the Signatures view.
  2. From the View menu, choose as Thumbnails.
  3. From the File menu, choose Import Imposition.
  4. In the Import Imposition dialog box, click the Job Folder button and locate: UserDefinedFolders / Imposition / Wells.jdf.
  5. In the lower right hand corner of the dialog box, select the Use Existing Page Set option.
  6. Click Import.
  7. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.
    Note: This imposition plan is a 32X44 two-sided Work and Turn imposition.

Proof the imposed imposition

  1. In the Imposition Plans pane, right-click the imposition plan, and choose the process template: Imposition Output > Virtual Proof > Virtual Proof.Imposed.600.
  2. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.
  3. In the Imposition Plans pane, right-click the imposition plan, and choose Open VPS files.
    Note: Imposition is a two-sided job.
  4. Minimize Prinergy VPS software.

Remove the imposition

  1. In the Imposition Plans pane, right-click the imposition plan, and choose Remove Imposition.
    Note: This removes the selected imposition plan from the Signature and Separations views, but doesn't remove or destroy any other job elements related to the imposition, such as PDF pages and input files.

Import a new imposition plan and use an existing page set

  1. From the File menu, choose Import Imposition.
  2. In the Import Imposition dialog box, click the Job Folder button and locate: UserDefinedFolders / Imposition / 8pWT_8.5x11_25x38.jdf.
  3. Select the 8pWT_8.5X11_25X38.pjtf file.
  4. In the lower right hand corner of the dialog box, select the Use Existing Page Set option.
  5. Click Import.
  6. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.
    Note: This imposition plan is a 25X38 two-sided Work and Turn imposition.

Proof the imposed imposition

  1. In the Imposition Plans pane, right-click the imposition plan, and choose the process template: Imposition Output > Virtual Proof > Virtual Proof.Imposed.600.
  2. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.
  3. In the Imposition Plans pane, right-click the imposition plan, and choose Open VPS files.
  4. Compare the differences between the two imposition plans.
  5. At the completion of the proof process, quit Prinergy VPS.
  6. Restore Job Manager.

Destroy the imposition

  1. In the Imposition Plans pane, right-click the imposition plan, and choose Destroy Imposition.
  2. In the Destroy Imposition dialog box, enter a user name and password. Click Destroy.
    Note: This permanently deletes the selected imposition plan and its associated input files, pages, and page sets from the system. Once you destroy an imposition, you cannot retrieve it or its associated files. If you want to retain the associated files, use the Remove Imposition menu item instead.
