You have successfully archived a job and now want to purge the existing job information from the active disk space on your Prinergy system.

Purging job files removes archived files from the volume on which you created the job. This frees up active disk space but retains a record of the purged files so that they can be retrieved later. You can purge job files only if they are already archived.

When you purge a whole job, the whole job folder is removed from its original volume, but any input files that reside on another input volume are not purged; they remain in their current location.

When you use a purge process template, be sure to specify the same disks to which you archived the files. Prior to purging the files, Archiver verifies that the files were successfully archived to the specified disks. If you do not specify all of the same disks to which you archived the files, Archiver will check only that each file has been archived to one disk and you may accidentally purge job files before duplicate copies of the archive are made.
The following procedures describe how to complete this activity.

Note: Your instructor, service representative, or your system administrator will supply a user name and password, and tell you which server and Prinergy volume to use.

Purge a full job from the Prinergy system

Important: Only complete this task if a storage device or disk volume has been configured at your site. If nothing has been configured, use these steps primarily as a guide to understand the process.

  1. In Job Finder, right-click your job XX_Manage_Jobs_Elements and choose: Storage > Purge > Purge > PurgeSelected.
  2. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.
  3. Select the Storage view.
  4. Check the archive status to make sure that all the items are archived and purged.

View job information after purging

  1. In Job Finder, locate your job XX_Manage_Jobs_Elements and open it.
  2. Double-click any of the refined pages to open in Acrobat.
  3. Read carefully the error message that appears.
  4. To close the error message, click OK.
  5. To view the job history, click the History tab.
  6. In Job Finder, right-click your job XX_Manage_Jobs_Elements and select Open Job Folder in File Browser.
  7. Read carefully the error message that appears.
Note: The job, its structure, and its history are still available in Workshop after purge, but the actual job content and files are not available until the job is retrieved.

View changes on the Prinergy server

  1. Locate your job on the Prinergy server: Jobs on server J drive > XX_Manage_Jobs_Elements
Note: All job files have been removed from the Prinergy server to free up available disk space for other jobs. The archive location data however, still resides in the Prinergy database.
