Create a job

  1. If it is not already open, start Prinergy Workshop.
  2. In Job Finder, right-click your main group, and choose New Job.
  3. Type the job name XX_Manage_Jobs_Elements (where <XX> represents your initials).
  4. Click Create.
  5. Minimize the Job Manager window.

Copy an input file and imposition plan to the job folder

  1. From your workstation, locate: Prinergy Activity Practice Files / Act_23_Manage Jobs
  2. Copy the Input File and Imposition folders.
  3. Restore Job Manager.
  4. Right-click the XX_Manage_Jobs_Elements job folder icon in the lower left corner of Job Manager. Select Open Job Folder in File Browser.
  5. In the XX_Manage_Jobs_Elements folder, open UserDefinedFolders.
  6. Paste the Input File and Imposition folders into UserDefinedFolders.
  7. Close the job folder.

Add, refine, and impose PDF pages

  1. Right-click the Input Files pane and choose Add Input Files.
  2. In the Add Input Files dialog box, click the Job Folder button and locate: UserDefinedFolders/Input Files/ Postcard.pdf.
  3. Click the Add Selected button to add the file to the Files to Add list.
  4. In the Options section of the Add Input Files dialog box, select the Process Selected Files Using Process Template check box. and use the process template: Refine > Refine > 1stRef-Normz.
  5. In the Add Input Files dialog box, click OK.
  6. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.
  7. From the File menu, choose Import Imposition.
  8. In the Import Imposition dialog box, click the Job Folder button and locate: UserDefinedFolders / Imposition / Postcard.pjtf.
  9. Verify that Create New Page Set is selected.
  10. Click Import.
  11. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.
  12. Assign the refined PDF pages to the imposition plan.
    Note: To review assigning PDF pages to a page set or imposition plan, consult Activities 13 and 14.

Create an archive-to-disk destination folder

  1. In your Archive file server, create an archive-to-disk destination folder and name it, Jobs_Archive.
  2. Share the new folder with everyone with full rights.
  3. In Prinergy UADM, select Tools > Archive Disk Volumes.
  4. In the wizard that appears, click New and browse to the server that hosts the shared folder that you created and select the shared folder.
  5. Click OK.
  6. In Prinergy Workshop, from the Tools menu, select Process Template Editor.
  7. Select Archive > Archive.
  8. Make sure that the archive-to-disk destination you that you created earlier is listed on the left-hand side, save, and close.
  9. Repeat the last step for the Retrieve and Purge process templates.

Archive the full job: method one

Important: Only complete this task if a storage device or disk volume has been configured at your site. If nothing has been configured, use these steps primarily as a guide to understand the process.

  1. In Job Manager, right-click the job icon XX_Manage_Jobs_Elements (in the bottom left corner) and choose: Storage > Archive > Archive > ArchiveSelected.
  2. In the Start Process dialog box, click the Edit Process Template button.
  3. View the Archive Media Pools and Disk Volumes column. This column identifies the media pools and/or disk volumes available for this particular process template.
  4. View the Available Pools and Disk Volumes column. This column displays all available media pools and disk volumes in the system.
  5. Click OK.
  6. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.
  7. Close XX_Manage_Jobs_Elements Job Manager.

Archive the full job: method two

  1. In Job Finder, right-click XX_Manage_Jobs_Elements and choose: Storage > Archive > Archive > ArchiveSelected.
  2. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.

Archive selected elements of the job

  1. Open XX_Manage_Jobs_Elements Job Manager.
  2. In the Pages pane, right-click Postcard.p1.pdf and choose: Storage > Archive > Archive > ArchiveSelected.
  3. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.

View information in media manager

Media Manager helps you manage your archive disk volumes. It displays information about the archive disk volumes in your Archiver system and enables you to:

  • Verify that a disk volume is readable using the Medium Verify menu item.
  • Copy all jobs on a given disk volume to other media, using the Medium Logical Copy menu item, which runs the Archive Medium Logical Copy process template.

Using Media Manager

  1. From the Tools menu, choose Media Manager.
  2. In Media Manager, view the status of the archive device.

Viewing disk volume status

In Job Manager, jobs that are archived to disk appear on the Storage and History tabs.
