Use the Prinergy VPS software to check that the following back up:

  • Folio page numbers
  • Bottom edges of text
  • Text margins
  • Template marks, including registration marks (crop and fold marks), color bars, and custom marks

You can check for three types of backup: plates, press sheets (the default), and pages. The type of backup you should use depends on the work style and page orientation you chose for the job in the imposition program. For example, a sheetwise job will back up using plates, press sheets, or pages; a perfector job will typically not back up with plates because the plates are tumbled. You normally need to perform only one type of backup for a given job.

Sometimes the plates back up but the press sheets do not. This depends on the work style you use, the press's registration on the plate, any plate trimming that you do, and so on.

When you open a set of files that uses either work-and-turn or work-and-tumble format, the set will automatically be displayed on both the front and back surfaces. That is, the set will be backed up by itself.

  • To check backup, from the Sheet menu, select Backup, then Plates, Press Sheets, or Pages.
