Note: To aid in persistent communication between the PLA client and the server on the client workstation, add a host table entry for the Prinergy server that hosts PLA.

On a Windows computer

Installing the PLA 9.0.x Client on a Windows OS-based computer

Requirement: PLA 9.0.x must be installed on your Prinergy Workflow primary server.

  1. From the Start menu, select Run and type \\<Prinergy Workflow server name>.
  2. To authenticate with the server, type your user name and password.
  3. Open the LayoutAutomationClient share.
  4. Locate the Win folder and open it.
  5. To install the Client, double-click LayoutAutomationClientSetup.exe and follow the prompts in the installation wizard.

Upgrading the PLA 9.0.x Client on a Windows OS-based computer

Requirement: PLA 9.0.x must be installed on your Prinergy Workflow primary server.

  1. Open the current version of the PLA Client software on your computer, and log on to the Prinergy Workflow primary server running PLA.
    You are prompted to synchronize your Client software with the version of PLA on the Prinergy Workflow primary server.
  2. Click OK.
    Your existing Client is upgraded to PLA 9.0.x.

Installing the PLA 9.0.x Client on VDI and AVD - Virtual Desktop Infrastructure

Requirement: PLA 9.0.x must be installed on your Prinergy Workflow primary server.

Note: The PLA UI preferences folder is unique to each user, for example turning on and off certain visible columns. The folder is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Kodak\Layout Automation Client so that each user references and control their own properties file for the PLA UI.

  • From the Layout Automation Client folder, open the Layout Automation Manager.exe.config file with Notepad++(make sure you have File name extensionschecked in View), edit the value in the line of text VdiMode=2, save the file. The DefaultUser.properties location will be located at  C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Kodak\LayoutAutomationManagerso that each user references and controls their own properties file for the PLA UI.

On a Macintosh computer

Installing the PLA 9.0.x Client on a Macintosh computer

Requirement: PLA 9.0.x must be installed on your Prinergy Workflow primary server.

  1. From the Go menu, select Connect to Server ( K) to connect to the Prinergy Workflow primary server and mount the LayoutAutomationClient share on your desktop.
  2. Open the share, and drag the Layout Automation Manager icon from the Mac directory to your Mac Applications folder.
    Tip: For ease of use, drag this icon to the dock on your Mac.
  3. Start Layout Automation Manager and log on to the Prinergy Workflow primary server with your user name and password.

  1. Open the current version of the PLA Client software on your computer and log on to the Prinergy Workflow primary server running PLA.
