Before you start

  1. If you do not already have the installation disc or file, download the latest Windows (PC) installer file at portal answer 70571
  2. If the download is a compressed (ZIP) file, extract the installation file and place it on the workstation.
  3. If multiple software sessions were running on the same workstation, restart the computer before proceeding to close all active sessions. (This is not typical and an initial restart is not normally necessary.) For example, if a user logs on and uses TIFF Assembler Plus and then later another user logs on via Remote Desktop under the same user credentials, the first session is not automatically closed. The only way to ensure all TAP sessions are closed is by restarting the computer.

Installation steps

  1. Ensure that the dongle is not plugged in yet.
  2. Ensure the installation file is available on the workstation, or insert the disc.
  3. Locate and double-click the installation file.
  4. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard.
  5. If a message asks whether to install the HASP driver, click Yes
  6. Click Finish.
  7. Plug in the dongle if either of the following points is true:
Note: The dongle is programmed with your license. You do not type or paste any license characters into the software.
    • This workstation will be responsible for hosting the site license for client workstations in the network.
    • This is the only workstation that will run TIFF Assembler Plus standalone at this site.
  8. Start the TIFF Assembler Plus software using the shortcut selected during installation.
Note: If the software does not detect a valid dongle or site license setup, a Demo License prompt appears. Click License to continue, or click Exit and and try again when a dongle or site license is available.
  9. Perform any of the following tasks that apply to your installation scenario:
This workstation has a connected dongle:
    1. If this is a first-time standalone installation at a workstation that will not use a site license, no further steps are needed.
    2. If this is the host workstation for a site license, see also the next scenario.
This is the host workstation for a site license:
    1. Determine the workstation's local IP address or computer name. For example, type cmd into the Start menu's Search box, and in the Command Prompt that appears, type ipconfig.
    2. Record this information for use at all client installations that will share this site license.
This is a new client workstation that will obtain its license from a site license host:
    1. Find out the IP address or computer name of the host workstation, and ensure the host system is active.
    2. In TIFF Assembler Plus, select Edit > Preferences > License.
    3. Enter the Host name or IP address.
    4. Click Connect.
    5. Restart the software to activate the license.
