There are several ways to magnify or reduce image areas in VPS+ software.

Use the Zoom tool to magnify or reduce a specific point or a specific area

 A specific point

To magnify the selected point, click and then click in the display window. To reduce the image, click , hold down the Ctrl key (Windows) or the Command key (Macintosh), and then click in the display window.

A specific area 

To magnify a selected area, click , click in the display window, hold down the left mouse button, and drag the mouse over the area on which you want to zoom in. To reduce the image, click , hold down the Ctrl key (Windows) or the Command key (Macintosh), and then click in the display window. To move the area in zoom, click and drag the image.

The Z shortcut key to magnify or reduce a specific area

  • To magnify a selected area, press and hold the Z key. For as long as the Z key is depressed, the current tool displays as a magnifying glass and you can select an area that you want to inspect more closely. When you release the Z key, the tool reverts to the previous tool used.
  • To reduce the area, while holding down the Z key, also hold down the Ctrl key (Windows) or the Command key (Macintosh).

To move the area in zoom, click and drag the image. 

Using the Navigator Palette to magnify or reduce a specific area

To zoom in via the Navigator palette, drag the rectangle over the area that you want to zoom in on, and then drag the slider up. To zoom out via the Navigator palette, drag the rectangle over the area that you want to zoom out of, and then drag the slider down.

The Zoom with scroll wheel option 

If you selected Zoom with scroll wheel in Preferences > Advanced, you can also zoom in and out with any tool selected by moving the scroll wheel on the mouse. You cannot control the exact focus of the zoom, but you can always move the screen:

  1. Press the space bar to change the current tool into the grabber hand .
  2. Click the mouse button and hold it down.
  3. Move the mouse to move the screen area displayed into the desired area. 

Zoom to a specific magnification level 

You can change the display size of an image to a specific magnification level. Choose from 1:512, 1:256, 1:128, 1:64, 1:32, 1:16, 1:8, 1:1,  2:1,  4:1,  8:1.

  1. From the View menu, select Zoom, then Zoom to.
  2. From the list, select the level of magnification that you require.
  3. From the list on the toolbar, select the level of magnification that you require. 

Zoom to Fit All 

While in Commercial Mode, you can change the zoom level to have a file fill the display window. On the toolbar click Zoom to Fit .

While in Layout mode (only available in Packaging Mode), you can change the zoom level of a layout so that it fills the display window. The zoom level of all elements changes to show the entire layout: on the toolbar click Fit All

Zoom to Fit Selection  

While in Layout mode (only available in Packaging Mode), you can change the zoom level of a selected element (a TIFF file in the layout) so that the element is displayed over the entire width or height of the display window.

  1. In the layout window, select an element that you want to zoom automatically to fit the display window.
  2. On the toolbar, click Fit Selection .
