The White Level and Opacity Chart includes a series of white patches, and each white patch is printed with a different amount of white ink.

Only white ink is used to print the White Level and Opacity Chart. No combination of CMYKW inks is used to print the chart, and no color management is applied.

The purpose of the White Level and Opacity Chart is to help you identify the amount of white ink to use on the Epson Stylus Pro WT7900 printer to simulate the white ink used on your target. Print the White Level and Opacity Chart on the Epson Stylus Pro WT7900 printer with white ink and clear media, and compare the patches on the printed chart to the white on your target, such as a press sample or an Approval proof. Identify the patch on the White Level and Opacity Chart that best simulates the white on your target.

Under each patch on the White Level and Opacity Chart is a label. The label identifies the ink value for each patch, such as 5%, 10%, and so on. At the bottom of the chart, the caption includes each tint value and its equivalent opacity value.

You can use the ink value in the following ways:

  • In a hot folder or virtual printer, on the White Settings tab, select Use proofer white flood (for profiling only), and type the ink value in the White Level box to specify how much white ink to use for white flood when printing a profiling chart that lacks content for white flood.
  • When you create a CMYKW color library, create a color for white flood, and type the ink value in the White box.

You can use the opacity value with the Opacity option in a CIE L*a*b* color library. The opacity value is used to print white ink. (The opacity value is converted to an ink value during processing.)
