The White Settings tab is available only for the Epson Stylus Pro WT7900 printer when you use a media configuration with white ink enabled to create a hot folder or virtual printer.

The White Settings tab allows you to print white ink across the proof (including the trim and caption, if used) to simulate white flood. White flood is a printing method used with non-white substrates, such as packages. White ink is printed on top of non-white substrates to create a base on which to print colors. In Kodak Proofing Software, the print mode for the media configuration controls whether the white ink prints first or last on the proof. For surface print mode, white ink prints first, before the colors. For reverse print mode, white ink prints last, after the colors.

The options on the White Settings tab are intended for input files that lack content for white flood. For example, you can use the settings to print white flood with a four-color profiling chart. The white ink lets you characterize the proofer with white ink, and you can measure the printed chart to create a proofer profile. You can also use the settings to print white flood with a color recipe that specifies a mix of CMYKW inks. The recipe lets you simulate an opaque substrate for input files that lack content for white flood.

Kodak Proofing Software allows you to enable white flood in a hot folder or virtual printer and print input files that include content for white flood, and the software uses both methods to print white flood. In other words, the system uses the information in the input file, and the system uses the information in the hot folder or virtual printer to add white flood to the proof. As a result, both methods are used to print white flood, and the proof will receive more white ink than expected. This is not recommended.

However, you can enable white flood in a hot folder or virtual printer and print input files that include content for white spot colors (as opposed to white flood), and the software prints white flood, and it prints the white spot colors. This is recommended.
