Many default settings are stored in the default profile of Preps software. You can store customized settings in additional profiles to reuse for your most common job types. 

You might switch between custom profiles for:

  • Jobs that have similar custom requirements
  • Jobs that you run regularly
  • Settings for printing proofs
  • Settings for final output
  • Settings for individual prepress operators

The settings in profiles are stored in corresponding text files that have a CFG file name extension. The Profiles/default folder contains the default profile (default.cfg), and a new subfolder is automatically created to store each new profile that you create.

Configuration subfolders and files are portable and can be copied into any other installation's Profiles folder. Each CFG file must be in its own subfolder with the same name.

In a configuration file, each line represents one option that can be turned on or off, or set to a specific value. Most of these options are controlled by a dialog box. Advanced users can edit technical options that are not exposed in a dialog box, as needed.

Note: You must start and close Preps software at least once after installation, before you can see the default profile contents in a text editor. The Profiles folder that contains the configuration files for the default profile and your custom profiles cannot be shared. Each installation uses only its own Profiles folder.

Die Einstellungen innerhalb der Profile werden in entsprechenden Textdateien mit der Dateinamenerweiterung „.cfg" gespeichert. Im Ordner Profiles/default befindet sich das Standardprofil (default.cfg). Für jedes neu von Ihnen erstellte Profil wird automatisch ein neuer Unterordner angelegt.
Konfigurationsdateien und -unterordner sind übertragbar und können in jeder beliebigen anderen Installation in den dortigen Ordner Profiles kopiert werden. Jede CFG-Datei muss sich in einem Unterordner mit dem gleichen Namen befinden.
Jede Zeile einer Konfigurationsdatei stellt eine Option dar, die aktiviert oder deaktiviert bzw. auf einen bestimmten Wert festgelegt werden kann. Die meisten dieser Optionen können über ein Dialogfeld eingestellt werden. Erfahrene Benutzer können auch solche technischen Optionen bearbeiten, die nicht mittels eines Dialogfelds verändert werden können.

Anmerkung: Nach der Installation der Preps-Software müssen Sie diese mindestens einmal starten und beenden, um die Inhalte des Standardprofils in einem Texteditor anzeigen zu können.
Der Ordner Profiles, der die Konfigurationsdateien für das Standardprofil und Ihre benutzerdefinierten Profile enthält, kann nicht freigegeben werden. Jede Installation verwendet nur den eigenen Ordner Profiles.

Ciascuna riga del file di configurazione rappresenta un'opzione che può essere attivata, disattivata o impostata su un determinato valore. La maggior parte di queste opzioni sono controllate da una finestra di dialogo. Se necessario, gli utenti esperti possono modificare le opzioni tecniche non esposte in una finestra di dialogo.
Nota: è necessario avviare e chiudere il software Preps almeno una volta dopo l'installazione per poter visualizzare il contenuto del profilo predefinito in un editor di testo.
La cartella Profiles, che contiene i file di configurazione per il profilo predefinito e quelli personalizzati, non può essere condivisa. Ciascuna installazione utilizza esclusivamente la propria cartella Profiles.
