7. Experiment with cut margins and offsets

Note the following points about ACM cut margins and offsets:

• ACM cut margins and offsets are adjusted on a per-layout basis.
• Cut margins increase or decrease the cut area.
• Cut offsets shift the cut area.

Set the Cut Preferences

1. Make sure that ACM is the selected output file format.
2. Set the other options as desired.

Create the layout

1. Open the Lesson7.cta file.
2. Select File > Layout Setup.
3. In both of the ACM cut margin boxes, specify 2 mm.
   
4. Click OK.
5. Output the layout.

View the results

1. View the HTML cut file.
   Notice that the cuts overlap:
   

   

2. Preview the output 1-bit TIFF.

Experiment with the settings

Repeat the above steps using various other values.

1. For example, instead of editing the ACM cut margin, edit the ACM cut offset values. 
   

   

2. Output the layout.

3. View the HTML cut file.

4. Pause the animation. Notice the gray box, which is now offset from the original, per the settings.
