You want to automatically import an imposition layout to specific jobs. In this scenario, you will create a job that contains the imposition plan, and then export the job. You will then create a new job based on the exported job that contains the imposition plan.

Create a job

  1. If it is not already open, start Prinergy Workshop.
  2. In Job Finder, right-click your main group, and choose New Job.
  3. Type the job name XX_Export_Import (where <XX> represents your initials).
  4. Click Create.
  5. Minimize the Job Manager window.

Copy an input file and imposition plan to the job folder

  1. From your workstation, locate: Prinergy Activity Practice Files / Act_22_Export_Import
  2. Copy the Input File and Imposition folders.
  3. Restore Job Manager.
  4. Right-click the XX_Export_Import job folder icon in the lower left corner of Job Manager. Select Open Job Folder in File Browser.
  5. In the XX_Export_Import folder, open UserDefinedFolders.
  6. Paste the Input File and Imposition folders into UserDefinedFolders.
  7. From the File menu, select New Folder. Name the folder ExportNoPages.
  8. Close the job folder.

Add, refine, and impose PDF pages

  1. Right-click the Input Files pane and choose Add Input Files.
  2. In the Add Input Files dialog box, click the Job Folder button and locate: UserDefinedFolders/Input Files/ Hearthstone.pdf.
  3. Click the Add Selected button to add the file to the Files to Add list.
  4. In the Options section of the Add Input Files dialog box, select the Process Selected Files Using Process Template check box. Use the process template: Refine > Refine > 1stRef-Normz.
  5. In the Add Input Files dialog box, click OK.
  6. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.
  7. From the File menu, choose Import Imposition.
  8. In the Import Imposition dialog box, click the Job Folder button and locate: UserDefinedFolders / Imposition / Hearthstone.jdf.
  9. Verify that Create New Page Set is selected.
  10. Click Import.
  11. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.
  12. Assign the refined PDF pages to the imposition plan.
    Note: To review how to assign PDF pages to a page set or imposition plan, revisit Activities 13 and 14.

Create an export process template

  1. From the Tools menu, choose Process Template Editor.
  2. From the Export group, locate Export > ExportAll.
  3. Right-click ExportAll and choose New Process Template.
  4. From the File menu, select Save.
  5. In the Save Process Template dialog box, enter the name of your new process template. Type XXExportNoPages (where XX represents your initials).
  6. Click the Create Process Template button.
  7. In the Export section, clear Include Pages in Job Exports.
  8. In the Export Path window, enter: %JOB%/UserDefinedFolders/ExportNoPages
    Note: This is where the exported job .zip file will be located.
  9. From the File menu, select Save.
  10. Close the export process template.
  11. Close Process Template Editor.

Export the job

  1. From the File menu, choose Export Job.
  2. In the Choose Process Template dialog box, select the process template: Export > Export > XXExportNoPages.
  3. Click OK.
  4. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.

Locate the exported job

  1. Right-click the job icon named XX_Export_Import in the bottom left corner of Job Manager. Select Open Job Folder in File Browser.
  2. Open UserDefinedFolders and locate the ExportNoPages folder.
  3. Open the ExportsNoPages folder to view the XX_Export_Import.zip file.
  4. Close the ExportNoPages folder.
  5. Close XX_Export_Import Job Manager.

Import job contents into a new job

  1. In Job Finder, right-click your main group , and choose New Job.
  2. Type the job name XX_Export_Import Part 2 (where <XX> represents your initials).
  3. In the Options section of the Create New Job dialog box, select Import Job.
  4. In the Import Job dialog box, locate your exported zip file: Jobs on <server> J drive / XX_Export_Import / UserDefinedFolders / ExportNoPages / XX_Export_Import.zip
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Create.
  7. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.
  8. View the imported imposition plan and page set in the Pages and Signatures view.
    In this case, only the imposition plan was included in the new job because the export option Include Pages in Job Exports was turned off.

Delete the export process template

  1. From the Tools menu, choose Process Template Editor.
  2. In the Export group, locate your process template: Export > Export > XXExportNoPages .
  3. Right-click your process template XXExportNoPages and select Delete. The process template is deleted.
  4. Close the Process Template Editor.
  5. Close XX_Export_Import Part 2 Job Manager.
