You need to create an imposition proof process template that will be used for a specific customer. The customer's job will be ongoing, with files being received intermittently throughout a long period of time. You want to make this imposition proof process template available only for this particular customer.

Create a job

  1. If it is not already open, start Prinergy Workshop.
  2. In Job Finder, right-click your main group, and choose New Job.
  3. Type the job name XX_Imposition_Proof_PT (where <XX> represents your initials).
  4. Click Create.
  5. Minimize the Job Manager window.

Copy input files and imposition plans to the jobs folder

  1. From your workstation, locate: Prinergy Activity Practice Files / Act_18_Create Impo PT / Input Files
  2. Copy the Input Files and Impositions folders.
  3. Restore Job Manager.
  4. Right-click the XX_Imposition_Proof_PT job folder icon in the lower left corner of Job Manager. Select Open Job Folder in File Browser.
  5. In the XX_Imposition_Proof_PT folder, open UserDefinedFolders.
  6. Paste the Input Files and Impositions folders into UserDefinedFolders.
  7. Close the job folder.
  8. Minimize the Job Manager window.

Create an imposition proof process template

  1. From the Tools menu, choose Process Template Editor.
  2. Open the Imposition Output group.
  3. Right-click the Virtual Proof group and select New Process Template.
  4. From the File menu, select Save.
  5. In the Save Process Template dialog box, enter the name of your new process template. Type XX_Imposed VPS Proof (where <XX> represents your initials).
  6. Click the Create Process Template button.
  7. In the Output To list, select Virtual Proof.
  8. Open the Color Convert section and make sure that the Match Colors in Page Content check box is cleared.
  9. Open the Layout section.
  10. In the Media area, in the Size list, select Cut sheet.
  11. Open the Device section.
  12. In the Device Path box, change the path from %Job%\Proofs to %JOB%\imposed PDF Output.
  13. From the File menu, select Save.
  14. Close the imposition proof process template.
  15. Close Process Template Editor.

Use job favorites

  1. From the Job menu, choose Manage Job/User Favorites.
  2. Select the Job Favorites tab on the right side of the window.
  3. In the left column, locate your imposition process template: Imposition Output > Virtual ProofXX_Imposed VPS Proof
  4. Click Add. This adds your imposition output process template to the Job Favorites tab in the Process Template pane.
  5. Click OK.
  6. In Job Manager, view the Job tab in the Process Template pane. You will see your imposition process template located there.

Add and refine the input file

  1. Right-click the Input Files pane and choose Add Input Files.
  2. In the Add Input Files dialog box, click the Job Folder button and locate: UserDefinedFolders/ Input Files/ Type Brochure.pdf.
  3. Click the Add Selected button to add the file to the Files to Add list.
  4. In the Options section of the Add Input Files dialog box, select the Process Selected Files Using Process Template check box. Use the process template: Refine > Refine > 1stRef-Normz.
  5. In the Add Input Files dialog box, click OK.
  6. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.

Impose PDF pages

  1. Select the Signatures view.
  2. From the View menu, choose as Thumbnails.
  3. From the File menu, choose Import Imposition.
  4. In the Import Imposition dialog box, click the Job Folder button and locate: UserDefinedFolders / Impositions / Type Brochure.jdf
  5. Click Import.
  6. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.
  7. In the Pages pane, right-click Type Brochure.p1.pdf and choose Select All Pages.
  8. Right-click any selected PDF page and select Assign Page to Position. Verify that the PDF page numbers are associated with the correct page set positions.
  9. Click OK.

Proof the imposition using the new process template

  1. In the Imposition Plans pane, select the TypeBrochure imposition plan.
  2. From the Jobs tab in the Process Template pane, click the XX_Imposed VPS Proof process template button.
  3. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.
  4. Right-click the imposition plan and choose Open VPS files.
  5. At completion of the proof process, close the Prinergy VPS window.
