Use the Archive and Purge Completed Jobs sample rule set to archive and purge after final output. Perform the processing at a quiet time in the production schedule and pool the work to balance the load on the archiving hardware.
The Archive and Purge Completed Jobs rule set is located at Rule Set Library > Rule Sets > Sample Rule Sets.

    What the rule does

When a job is complete (final output has been done), assign it to an archive pool but don't perform the archiving until a quiet time in the production schedule. Archive all the jobs from one pool (for example, Pool A) before archiving the jobs from the next pool. After all the jobs in the pool are archived successfully, purge them from the system, and report on the success or failure of the purge operation.

    Why it is useful

The rule reduces wear-and-tear on archiving hardware by moving all the Pool A job data before changing to a second tape for Pool B jobs. Avoids constantly inserting and ejecting tapes; jobs are queued instead.
