You must have reasonable expectations about the time it takes to install and implement a new digital flexo workflow solution. Planning must take into account the time and conditions required to complete each step.
A new digital workflow represents a major change in your manufacturing process, and may involve new media, new washout equipment, and new workflow concepts. Different steps in the implementation may involve media vendors, hardware engineers, applications specialists, and flexo specialists. Additionally, certain steps in the process require plate tests or press tests to be carried out and the resulting data analyzed to determine optimum settings.
The purpose of SUA is to teach you how to structure tests, analyze results, and adjust your processes based on these results. Depending on the number of different media and line frequencies used, testing and analysis can take a considerable amount of time. If Kodak media is not being used, some of the tests and analysis are performed by non-Kodak media representatives. Kodak representatives are only on site for a limited period of time and are not there to finalize settings for every media and every line frequency. Kodak flexo specialists have an explicit goal of teaching and empowering you to independently test and analyze results and optimize your own settings for the full range of media being used by your company.
