Adobe Acrobat

A desktop application that lets you create and edit documents in Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF).

Adobe Extreme

A high-end production-printing architecture that provides some of the core technology for Prinergy. This includes support for PDF and Portable Job Ticket Format (PJTF), and an underlying communications structure.

Device linearization

The adjustment of tonal values on output to compensate for inaccuracies in device imaging.

DigiCap

DigiCap Kodak screening technology improves transfer of ink in solid areas of digital photo polymer media.
DigiCap provides for:

    • Minimizing visual artifacts of uneven ink lay-down in the solids
    • Increasing ink density (process-specific)
    • Reduction in dot gain (process-specific)

Dot linking

Placing dots closer together to allow smaller dot sizes to be held on plate. Dot linking requires you to perform different sets of exposure tests for each different line frequency.

HyperFlex

HyperFlex Kodak screening technology allows for smaller dots and/or graphic elements to be held on plate during UV exposure.
HyperFlex provides for:

    • Finer line screen
    • Specifying a smaller minimum dot size when using Maxtone screening
    • Adjusting the relief depth in and around small dots and/or graphic elements
    • Adjusting the width of the shoulder base that supports small dots and/or graphic elements

K factor

Distortion produced relative to the plate thickness.

Maxtone

Maxtone is a new Kodak screening technology, often referred to as a hybrid or alternative type of screening.
Maxtone provides for:

    • Specifying the minimum dot size on plate in microns
    • Simulating FM screening in the highlights and or shadows through random removal of dots
    • Specifying the smoothness of the transition back to AM screens

Plate distortion

Image distortion that occurs on a flexo plate that is mounted on press.

Prinergy Administrator

Prinergy Administrator is an application that allows you to monitor and configure your Prinergy system.

Scum dot

Scum dots are stray dots that show up in the non-image areas of a plate, where they should not print, and sometimes print darker than the minimum specified dot areas.
