Set up communication between Prinergy and the Digimaster front end.
Check that Prinergy supports the software version of your digital press front end. See supported digital presses.
You can set up communication for the Digimaster front end from the Digimaster terminal window or remotely, using a Telnet session (the steps are the same). If you have several Digimaster front ends, you must perform these steps for each system.

  1. Make sure that the following TCP ports are open between Prinergy and the Digimaster front end:
    • 515
    • 5432
  2. Set up the Digimaster network database access to enable Web service communication between Prinergy and the Digimaster. You can do this from the Digimaster terminal window or by using a Telnet session.

From the command line on a Windows-based computer:

        • C:\>telnet <Digimaster IP address>
        • login:root
        • Password:root4dhv

                   From the Digimaster terminal window:

        • Gnome menu > Applications > Printer > Terminal - root > popup
        • Password: root4dhv

Now that you are logged on, run the dhvsecure command to access the Digimaster database:

      • <machineName># dhvsecure -B
      • (if Telnet) <machineName># logout

Note: For Digimaster 7.0 and earlier, switch to the postgres user to run the pg_ctl command:

        • <machineName># su postgres
        • $ pg_ctl reload -D /var/pgdata
        • postmaster successfully signaled
        • $ exit
        • (if Telnet) <machineName># logout
  3. In Prinergy Administrator, add the Digimaster as a digital press. On the Managed Connections menu, click Add Connection, and select the type of digital press. Type the server name or IP address and press speed for the digital press.
The digital press is listed in Digital Submit, Digital Direct, and Workshop.
