There are three different ways to apply distortion compensation in Prinergy and Prinergy Evo, and each has its advantages and disadvantages:
- Raster scaling
- Vector scaling
- Web growth
All three methods result in the creation of a final compensated 1-bit TIFF, ready for imaging on a ThermoFlex device. The ThermoFlex will image the 1-bit TIFF accurately due to firmware compensation, so it doesn't matter in which orientation the file is imaged on the ThermoFlex. What is important is that the flexo plate is mounted on the press cylinder in the proper orientation.
All scaling methods are capable of scaling to an accuracy of 0.001%. This is equivalent to about a 1 pixel change in size over 36 inches (100 centimeters).
