Create a job

  1. If it is not already open, start Prinergy Workshop.
  2. In Job Finder, right-click your main group, and choose New Job.
  3. Type the job name XX_Pack_Automation_Job1 (where <XX> represents your initials).
  4. Click Create.
  5. Minimize the Job Manager window.

Copy an input file to the job folder and add input files to the job

  1. From your workstation, locate: PST for Packaging Practice Files / Act_03_Create Proof PT / Input File
  2. Restore Job Manager.
  3. Open the Input File folder. 
  4. Drag the UpFront Action Printing.pdf to the Job Manager's Input Files area.
  5. In the Add Input Files dialog box that appears, under Options, click Select and select the 1stRef-Normz refine process template.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click OK.
    Your file is copied to the UserDefinedFolders folder.
  8. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK to start the Refine process.
  9. Minimize the Job Manager window.

Create a Loose 1-Up Artwork Output process template

  1. From the Tools menu, choose Process Template Editor.
  2. Right-click the Loose 1-Up Artwork Output group, and choose New Process Template Group.
  3. Name the group XXLoose1-UpGroup (where <XX> represents your initials).
  4. Right-click your XXLoose1-UpGroup and select New Process Template.
  5. From the File menu, select Save.
  6. Name the process template XXLoose1-Up (where <XX> represents your initials).
  7. Click the Create Process Template button.
  8. In the Output To list, select TIFF.
  9. Open the Device section of the process template window.
  10. Change Device Path to %JOB%Plates.
  11. Close the Device section.
  12. Open the Processed File Options section of the process template window.
  13. You’ll want to experiment with the naming convention options in this section.  Click the ? help button for detailed information.
  14. A suggested naming convention is to choose Use Custom File Naming and type the following in the Filename Template field:  %Filename%_%LongColorName%.%extension%
  15. Close the Processed File Options section.
  16. Open the Render section of the process template window.
  17. Choose the JTP that is a Proofing Device (512 MB) type.  Typical names may be HiResOutput or Render
  18. Type in the Resolution X and Resolution Y values that match your Imager’s output resolution.  2400x2400 dpi is the most common.
  19. Close the Render section.
  20. Open the Calibration & Screening section of the process template window.
  21. This section will be discussed more in later Activities.  For now, just set the Screen Ruling to 133 lpi.  Leave all other options at defaults.
  22. From the File menu, select Save.
  23. Close the process template.
  24. Close Process Template Editor.

Use job favorites

  1. Restore the Job Manager window.
  2. From the Job menu, choose Manage Job/User Favorites.
  3. Select the Job Favorites tab on the right side of the window.
  4. In the left column, locate your Loose 1-Up Artwork Output process template: Loose 1-Up Artwork Proof > XXLoose1-UpGroup > XXLoose1-Up
  5. Click Add. This adds your Loose 1-Up Artwork Output process template to the Job Favorites tab in the Process Template pane in Job Manager.
  6. Click OK.
  7. In Job Manager, select the Job tab in the Process Template pane. View your Loose 1-Up Artwork Output process template located there.

Proof the refined 1-Up Artwork using the new process template

  1. In the 1-Up Artwork pane, select UpFront ActionPrinting.p1.pdf.
  2. From the Jobs tab in the Process Template pane, click the XXLoose1-Up process template button.
  3. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.
  4. Wait for the 1-Up Artwork to finish processing.
  5. Right-click the Job Folder button in the lower left corner of Job manager and select Open Job Folder in the File Browser.
  6. Open the Plates folder.
  7. Open the plate files in TIFF Assembler Plus (TAP) for previewing the job.
  8. Close TAP when finished.
  9. Close the Plates window.
