Define a global variable

In this task, you'll define a global variable that will hold the names of the prepress staff that are supposed to receive e-mails about pages being approved or rejected.

1. In Rule Builder, from the Edit menu, select Manage Variables.
2. In the message that appears that prompts you to save the rule set, click Yes.
3. In the Save Rule Set As dialog, in the Rule Set Name box, type a name and click Save.
4. In the Manage Variables Editor window that appears, make sure that the Global Variables tab is selected.
5. Click the Add Variable button.
6. In the new row that appears, in the Name box, type prepress_operators_emails.
7. In the Data Type list, select String.
8. In the Current Value box, type your e-mail address. In this box, you can enter the e-mail address of all prepress operators that should be notified, each separated by semi-colons.
9. To confirm the creation of the new variable, click OK.
