Why you should complete this activity

Prinergy DotShop is a Kodak plug-in for Adobe Acrobat software that can edit halftone screening in PDF files. A screen instance consists of a specific screen system, dot shape, line ruling, dot size, angle set, and angle orientation.

This activity is important because it illustrates how to:

  • Create screen instances in DotShop Composer
  • Apply the screen instances to PDF files

What you'll need

For this activity you need to locate:

  • PST for Packaging Practice Files /Act_04_Prinergy Flexo Screening

The instructor or coach will provide you with the location of the practice files.

Note: If you are completing this activity on your own or coaching others in your shop, copy the PST for Packaging Practice Files folder directly to your workstation. 

What you need to know

DotShop Composer software is installed on your Prinergy system and allows you to customize screen instances for your printing environment. These customized screen instances are saved in a .sif (Screen *Instance File) file that are automatically made available to Prinergy Dotshop. A screen instance consists of a specific screen system, dot shape, screen (line) ruling, dot size, angle set, and angle orientation.

DotShop Composer also lets you create screen instances that identify:

  • Screening settings
  • Calibration Curves

Prinergy DotShop is a Kodak plug-in for Adobe Acrobat software that lets you select and edit halftone screening in PDF files. Prinergy DotShop has access to licensed screen instances on your Prinergy system (created using DotShop Composer), and allows you to apply these screen instances to objects in a PDF file.
