The Kodak Prinergy Separation Repair tool is a Kodak plug-in for the Adobe Acrobat software. Some software applications create Adobe PostScript files that the Prinergy normalize function cannot correctly interpret. This can cause the separations to be incorrectly grouped in the refined Portable Document Format (PDF) pages. Use the Separation Repair tool to fix this problem. The Separation Repair tool is available for both Microsoft Windows and Mac OS operating systems.

Separations can be incorrectly grouped in two ways:

  • Each of the refined PDF pages for a job may contain only one separation, instead of C, M, Y, and K.
For example, the pages could be:
    page 1—cyan
    page 2—magenta
    page 3—yellow
    page 4—black
  • One refined PDF page for a job may contain all separations for the job, but separations are not correctly grouped by page.
For example, PDF page 1 could include the following separations: cyan, magenta, yellow, black, cyan, magenta, yellow, black, cyan, magenta, yellow, black, and so on.

If you have one of these problems, you may notice that when you print a proof, information is missing, or extra unwanted information is printed.
You can use the Separation Repair tool to repair pages with these problems. The tool lets you group separations into the proper pages.
