The Kodak Prinergy PDF Merge software is a Kodak plug-in to the Adobe Acrobat software that enables you to compare two Portable Document Format (PDF) files, preserve objects from one file, and apply those objects to the other file. Prinergy PDF Merge will work with Adobe Acrobat 8 or later.
When you receive a revised version of trapped PDF file, you want to avoid having to retrap those objects that haven't changed between the original PDF file and the revised PDF file. Use PDF Merge to identify which objects have and haven't changed between versions, preserve any traps from the original file that are associated with the objects common to both files, and apply those traps to the common objects in the revised file.
Another situation in which you might want to preserve the objects from one file and apply them to another file is when you have a template PDF file that contains an object, such as a logo, that you want to reuse in other PDF files.
When you compare an original file and a revised file, PDF Merge automatically discards any objects and associated traps that are unique to the original file and retains only those objects and associated traps that are either the same in both files or unique to the revised file. However, PDF Merge also enables you to modify the default changes by discarding individual preserved objects, and retrieving individual discarded objects.
Use PDF Merge to compare PDF to PDF only. You cannot compare other file types. As well, PDF Merge can compare two files only if their media boxes are the same size.
