You can adjust the size of traps for small colored text, or set black text to overprint to ensure that the text remains legible.

  1. In PDF Trap Editor, select the Detailed view of the Trap Page or Trap Selection dialog box.
  2. Click the Small Text tab.
  3. To set a different trap width than the default for small colored text, set the following Small Colored Text options.

    Scale traps by

The range for scaling trap width is 0 to 1000 percent of the session's trap width. The default is 75 percent.

    for colored text up to

The range for colored text point size is 0 to 100 points (pt). The default is 6 pt.

Trap large colored text like any other object

Colored text larger than specified will be trapped using the regular trap width for the page.

  4. To prevent over-inking on small text, set different trapping rules than the default for small black text. The range for overprinting black text is from 0 to 1000 pt, with a default of 12 pt. In Overprint black text up to, type the size of the black text over which the trapper will trap as a text object and black trapping rules will apply.
