  1. From PDF Trap Editor, select the objects or borders that you want to trap.
  2. Click the Trap the Selection  button in the Properties Editor toolbar.
  3. Select either the Simplified or the Detailed setting for the Trap Selection dialog box.
  4. Perform one of the following actions:
    • Specify trap attributes according to your press operator's recommendations about trap size and (ink) print order.
    • Click the Load button to load a previously saved trap set.

Tip: To bypass choosing a trap set, and instead reuse the last-used settings:

      • In Mac OS, hold Option and click Trap the Selection.
      • In Windows, hold Alt and click Trap the Selection.
  5. Select one of the following trapping options:
    • To add traps, clear the Delete traps in selection option. This leaves any previous traps in place so that new traps are added instead of replacing existing traps.
    • To replace all traps, check the Delete traps in selection option. This removes all previous traps on the selected objects before adding new traps.
    • To trap only the selected items and not adjacent objects or adjacent objects and borders, select Only common object borders. This results in trapping only the common border between the selected items.
  6. Click Trap Selection.

Note: When you are regenerating a selected trap or generating a trap for a border, the Only common object borders trapping option does not apply.
