For detailed information about trapping rich blacks, see Trapping black ink.
At the end of this exercise, you should be able to use the Treat As Black ink option to apply stayaway traps for rich black graphics.
Note: We recommend that you print this procedure, and follow the steps using the opened drawing file:

  1. Open RichBlack.pdf.
This is a logo that has been colored 40 percent cyan and 100 percent black.
  2. Start PDF Trap Editor.
  3. On the Properties Editor toolbar, click the Trap Page button.
  4. Select the Inks dialog box.
  5. Find the black colorant, and make sure that the Treat as Black check box is selected. There's usually no need to clear it.
  6. Click Trap Page.
The PDF Trap Editor now traps the page, creating a stayaway trap for the rich black logo.
  7. Close RichBlack.pdf without saving.
