If the Prinergy VPS software cannot find the name of a spot color in the PANTONE solid coated library database and the color has not previously been defined as a custom color in your system, a question mark will be displayed for that color in the color swatch in the Separations palette.

In the main window, the separation associated with this unknown color will be displayed using a default color that is set in the sheet preferences.
When you define the color of an unknown ink, a custom color is added to your system. The color will be given the name that appeared for the unknown color in the Separations palette. Custom colors are preserved. Note that a color is preserved as part of this copy of the Prinergy VPS software; it will be available only on the computer on which it was defined.

  1. In the Separations palette, click the swatch with the question mark.
    The Color dialog box appears.
  2. Choose the color for the unknown ink, using the color wheel, color sliders, color palettes, image palettes, or crayons.
  3. Click OK.
The swatch changes to the selected color and the selected color appears in the Navigation palette and all main windows that have a separation with this name.
