Black width scaling determines the size of the traps to black objects. Any traps involving black objects will be scaled by the value that you set.

  1. In PDF Trap Editor, select the Detailed view of the Trap Page or Trap Selection dialog box.
  2. Click the Black tab.
  3. In the Black Width Scaling box, type a value.
The range is between 1 and 100 percent.

    Black Width Scaling

    Result

    100 percent (default)

When you select 100 percent, PDF Trap Editor pulls back an object's color separations (except for the black) the same distance as the trap width used on the rest of the page. Traps to black objects are the same size as other traps.

    Lower values

When you select lower values, narrower traps are generated. For example, a 50 percent scale means that traps to black objects will be 50 percent of the usual trap width.

    Higher values

When you select higher values, wider traps are generated. For example, a 200 percent scale means that traps to black objects will be twice the usual trap width.
