PDF Trap Editor will derive a value for the neutral density of a color based on the color's CMYK composition (or the CMYK equivalent of a spot color). You can also specify neutral densities in the Prinergy color database and trapping process template settings. When comparing the neutral density of adjacent colors, PDF Trap Editor will determine trap direction.
You can specify or change a color's neutral density to affect the trap decision and trap direction. This is typically done only for spot colors; however, the CMYK equivalent is usually adequate to derive a useful neutral density.

  1. In PDF Trap Editor, select the Detailed view of the Trap Page or Trap Selection dialog box.
  2. Click the Inks tab.
  3. Select each colorant in turn and double-click its Neutral Density column cell to clear the current value. Type the desired value in the cell. The range is between 0 and 10.
Typical values for the SWOP ink set are:
    • Cyan: 0.610
    • Magenta: 0.760
    • Yellow: 0.160
    • Black: 1.700
