Customer files are the source files that you use to produce the final printed product.


General best practices

  • It is recommended to create composite PDF input files that comply with GWG specifications. For information about preparing files from specific software, use the application settings on the Ghent PDF Workgroup web site (http://www.gwg.org) to generate print-ready PDFs. 
  • For color-matched workflows, such as color conversions applied with Kodak ColorFlow Ink Optimizing solution, it is recommended to use GWG version 4 (1v4) application settings which restrict the use of transparency.

  • It is also recommended to review the GWG recommendation for use of standard ICC profiles for printing on the Ghent PDF Workgroup web site (http://www.gwg.org/recommended-icc-profiles/) in order to adjust the color settings to meet your printing requirements. 
  • In Prinergy Workflow 7 and later, you can use Kodak Preflight+ to verify the compliancy and apply fixups that conform to the Ghent PDF Workgroup's specification recommendations. 

Note: Any issues with the Ghent PDF Workgroup web web site should be reported directly to the GWG using the contact information provided on their web site.

  • Composite files are preferred, but separated files such as those created with QuarkXPress or Adobe InDesign, are also acceptable. However, the separations set in separated input files cannot be modified in Prinergy. With composite input files, you can decide at the last minute how you want to output colors. If you require trapping and color matching, you must use composite input files. You can mix composite and separated files in the same Prinergy job.

  • We recommend that you always include or embed fonts in your input files.
  • Customer files can be stored on any server or disk that Prinergy can access. When you add files to a Prinergy job, you tell the system where the customer files are stored.
