There are two main coordinate systems that are used to specify screen angles in digital prepress systems. The Prinergy software may specify screen angles that are different from those of the coordinate system that you are used to working with.
The Prinergy software specifies angles clockwise, starting from a 0° reference point at 12 o'clock. The alternate system specifies angles counter-clockwise, starting from a 0° reference point at 3 o'clock.

 


Prinergy vs. alternate reference system

Sometimes the difference between these two systems leads to confusion.

For example, you might have been running your anilox at 60° and would like 22.5° separation between it and the black. You specify the angles you have conventionally used as cyan 7.5°, magenta 67.5°, yellow 82.5°, and black 37.5° and request the same angles in Prinergy. Specifying these angles directly in Prinergy may result in moiré.

If you specified angles using the counterclockwise from 3 o'clock convention, the angles must be translated to achieve the same results in the Prinergy software.
