New features and enhancements

Ability to not add manual substrate sizes to the PLA master substrate list (PLA-5030)

When a user manually adds a substrate size in a PLA ticket, PLA automatically updates the ShopMap master substrate list. In version 8.4.1, you can restrict this from happening by finding the DefaultUser.properties file in the LayoutAutomation\server\WEB-INF\classes folder on your Prinergy server. Open the file in a text editor and add a preference named Shopmap.SaveManualPresssheet=false. The default value is true.

The manually added substrate size might reappear in the ShopMap substrate list under the following conditions:

  1. You define a substrate using the Windows client that has at least one decimal place or Mac client that has more than 3 decimal places, i.e. 54.444 in, and you reopen the job in PLA Manager client; or
  2. You reopen and resend a job to Prinergy from PLA Manager client (regardless of the number of decimal places).

Auto delete PLA jobs in PLA Manager after "X" days (PLA-5031)

If the PLA Administrator prefers to have PLA jobs removed automatically rather than performing this operation manually, you can access the DefaultUser.properties file in the LayoutAutomation\server\WEB-INF\classes folder on your Prinergy server to enable this feature and define a start and stop time. Open the file in a text editor and add the following parameters:

PLA.EnableAutoDeleteJob=true

PLA.AutoDeleteJobStartAndStopTime=23:00,04:00

For the first parameter, the default value is true.

The second parameter controls the delete job start and stop time, split with “,”. In the example parameter, the deletion would start at 23:00 and run for a period of 5 hours concluding at 04:00.

In the PLA UI client, the PLA Administrator sets a defined number of days of their preference for deletion. The delete PLA job logic uses the current day’s 0 clock to search after ‘X' days jobs.

For example:

If X=1 AND PLA.AutoDeleteJobStartAndStopTime is set to “23:00,04:00”, if there is a job that has a last update time of ‘2019-12-01 10:00:00”, this job will be deleted at 2019-12-03 23:00:00.

After updating the DefaultUser.properties file, select each of the three PLA services from the Windows Task Manager, Processes tab and right-click to select End Task. The services will restart on their own. Once restarted, you will see the newly added 'Auto delete' parameters in the PLA preferences .

Allow Add InSite Files window in PLA to be resized (PLA-5033)

 In version 8.4.1, you can resize the Add InSite Files window. A minimum resolution size is 720 x 1200.

Add preference to PLA to turn off thumbnail preview in assign window (PLA-5035)

When assigning artwork to die stations in your PLA ticket, PLA automatically shows a thumbnail preview of the artwork. In version 8.4.1, you can restrict this from happening by turning off Show artwork thumbnail on die station setting. To do this, you can access the Die Settings tab in System Preferences of your PLA Manager client.

Known Limitations

PLA Client does not launch, the Client Configuration tab is missing or unable to save Preferences (PLA-4881)

When Prinergy is running on Windows Server 2012 or 2016 with RSS enabled, PLA is not able to retrieve the license information from Prinergy. It is also possible after restarting the Prinergy server, the Prinergy Floating License Manager is not yet running. To resolve, find the DefaultUser.properties file in the LayoutAutomation\server\WEB-INF\classes folder on your Prinergy server. Open the file in a text editor and add a preference named LicenseServer=<IP Address of the Prinergy Server> substituting the actual IP address. For example, LicenseServer=192.168.0.190

PLA 8.4.1 client running on macOS 11 and 12 will crash when user click the OK button on select Substrate/Press/Plate/Film in the Layout (PLA-5094)

PLA 8.4.1 running on macOS 11 and 12 will require a drop-in fix to be able to select Substrate/Press/Plate/Film in the Layout. Contact your local Kodak support and reference Article ID 75348 to request for the drop-in fix.
