You can create custom validation rules on the layout job form to check layout creation data. All layout tickets must pass the validation rules. Otherwise, the layout creation process fails. 

A validation rule can check that the press sheet is narrower than the press size. For example, you can set validation rules to enable layout creation if the following conditions exist at the same time:

  • The press sheet width or die width is less than 42 inches (1067 mm)
  • The press sheet width is greater than or equal to the die width
     

To create a more complex expression, use brackets to group a set of statements. To add brackets before and after a set of statements, select [ and ] from the menu before the first and last statements you wish to make into a single expression. For example, the following validation rule requires two statements to ensure that two different plates can be used only with the specified presses.
