Manipulating large numbers of artwork files in the layout causes delays while the preview RIP re-renders the artwork to the selected view. To reduce delays, apply image caching by resetting the preview resolution. Each artwork file is then rendered using the desired resolution and the preview image is cached, allowing Pandora to reuse the preview.

To allow for precise aligning, you can at any time re-render the current view in high-resolution mode by clicking the High-Res Preview icon on the toolbar:

If the Pandora software is integrated with the Prinergy Workflow software, you must configure both the Prinergy Workflow software and the Pandora software to increase or decrease the resolution of the image cache.

  • In Prinergy Administrator on the Prinergy Workflow server, set the thumbnail resolution.
  • In the Pandora software, select Preferences > General > Screen Cache Size > Hi-Res Preview.

For Pandora to use thumbnails generated by Prinergy Workflow, you must select the Thumbnail section of the refine process template for that artwork. The slider in Screen Cache Size has no effect on artwork created with thumbnails in Prinergy Workflow. For more information, see the Prinergy Administrator Help.

To change the resolution of the image cache, move the slider under Screen Cache Size. For maximum resolution, select the Hi-Res Preview check box to provide high resolution, but doing this will cause a re-RIP every time the view is changed. To display overprints correctly, select Overprint Preview.
Note: Marks are not affected by the resolution settings in Preferences. Marks are always RIPed to the screen resolution whenever the layout changes. Turning off overprints may increase performance at the expense of proper overprint handling.
