The following procedure instructs the proofer to reduce the CMYK colors in an input file to the CMYK press gamut but leaves spot colors intact. If the spot colors are within the proofer gamut, the colors will reproduce accurately.

If the colors are outside the proofer gamut, the proofer transforms them to match as closely as possible.

  1. In Color Database Editor, create a user color library containing the spot color’s values.
  2. When you create a hot folder or virtual printer, in the Color Handling list, select one of available the Keep Spots
  3. Click Continue.
  4. Set the following options on the Spot Color tab:
    1. Select Look Up in Spot Color Database.
    2. From the User Library list, choose the color library where you stored the spot color value in step 1.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Submit files with spot colors to this hot folder.
