If you’re using the Open Connectivity Kit, you can submit the following file formats. For best results, submit composite files that have all the necessary fonts embedded.

  • PDF 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, and 1.5 (separated or composite) generated by Acrobat.
  • PDF/X-1a
  • PDF/X-3
  • PostScript Level 1 or 2, and PostScript 3 (separated or composite).

Note: However, the proofer cannot apply color management to separated files.

  • EPS (Encapsulated PostScript)
  • DCS and DCS-2 (both single- and multi-file versions).

Note: When these files are already screened and separated, they require a special hot folder.

  • JPEG
  • TIFF/IT-P1 and CT/LW
  • TIFF formats:
    • 1-bit TIFF, including LEN or VPS
    • Multi-file 1-bit TIFF(requires a special hot folder)
    • Single file CMYK 8-bit and 16-bit TIFF
    • Single file RGB 8-bit and 16-bit TIFF
    • Compression types: LZW or RLE, as well as group 3 and pack bit
    • Tiled and striped
    • The system supports the ability to change resolution between input TIFF and the raster output to the proofer. It also supports two full color management steps between input and output to the proofer.

You can use the CEPSLink software or a third-party product to convert CT/LW and TIFF/IT files to EPS or DCS formats.

Composite files are preferred, and separated input files (such as created with Adobe InDesign software) are also accepted. However, you cannot modify these separations in Kodak Proofing Software.

Important: Fonts should be included or embedded in the input files.
