A spot tint library contains color definitions for spot color tints (0.1% to 99%). A spot tint library is associated with a spot color library from the Color Database Editor, and the spot color library contains the color definitions for the solid spot colors (100%). Together, the spot color library and the spot tint library allow the software to more accurately reproduce spot colors on proofs.

The spot tint library identifies the default settings to use for all tints (0.1% to 99%) in the input file. You can define spot tint values for tints in the range of 0.1% to 99%, or you can define spot tint values for tint.

The spot tint library can simulate the hue for the full range of spot color tints, or for the limited range of spot color tints typically seen in flexographic printing. Set the Simulation list to No Highlight Adjustment when you want to create a spot tint library with color definitions for the entire range of spot color tints. Set the Simulation list to Highlight Bump or Highlight Minimum Dot when you want to create a spot tint library with color definitions for a compressed range of spot color tints, such as 5% to 99%. Compressed tint ranges typically occur in flexographic printing.

The spot tint library identifies the default settings to use for all spot color tints. However, you can customize spot tints for individual colors in the spot color library, if desired. When defined, the software uses the customized spot tint settings for the identified spot colors, and the software uses the default spot tint library settings for all spot colors that lack customized settings.

Only Kodak Proofing Software hot folders support spot tint libraries. You cannot import a spot tint library into Prinergy or Prinergy Evo and use it for processing.
