(Available for screened input only) The available options depend on specific aspects of the 1-bit TIFF workflow.

To access a hot folder’s Screening Settings, click Setup in the Screened File Settings area of the Input Files tab. In the Screened File Settings dialog box that appears, perform one of the following actions:

  • For regular screened (halftone) input, in the Separations area, click Setup Screening.
  • For Flexo Screen Match proofing of 1-bit TIFF jobs, under Flexo Screen Match Settings, select the Apply Dot Dilation check box, and click Setup.

Notes:

  • To view or edit the Screening Settings of jobs that are paused in the Controller Viewer Queue, right-click the proof and select Edit Separations.
  • To view the Screening Settings of jobs in the Proofer Viewer Queue, pause the Proofer, right-click the proof , and select Edit Separations.
  • The last-saved settings for a 1-bit TIFF hot folder become the default settings for the next 1-bit TIFF hot folder that you create.

General options

Angle Direction

Specifies how to interpret the displayed separation screen angles:

  • Clockwise—Using an old-fashioned clock as an example, the hand pointing to 12:00 represents a vertical line at an angle of 0°. Going clockwise, the hand pointing to 1:30 represents a line at an angle of 45°.
  • Counterclockwise—In this case, the 0° angle is a horizontal line that points to 9:00. Going counterclockwise, 45° is at 7:30.

Workflow

Specify the workflow system that is submitting the input files, so that the applicable information required by the proofer is retrieved from the Approval software; supported systems include Kodak Prinergy, Dainipon Screen Trueflow, Heidelberg MetaDimension, Heidelberg Delta, Kodak HQ-1- RIP, Artwork Systems Nexus.

Note: If you are using only the High Resolution Previewer and not outputting to the proofer, you can ignore this setting.

Separations—color rows

Standard separations such as Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black

A row of settings is displayed for each separation color defined in the associated media configuration’s laydown order. The color name designators in the input file names map the data to the corresponding color rows. If a separation file is submitted for a color that is not listed, the settings in the row with the asterisk (*) are applied.

Other separations

If applicable, specify the settings that should be applied when submitted files reference additional or unrecognized color names.

  • * (wildcard asterisk)—any unrecognized color name
  • <color_name>—use Add Row to add separations
  • <partial_name> * or  * <partial_name> (text plus wildcard asterisk)—wildcard color name that you can add using Add Row, used for any color name that includes your specified text, and, depending on where you place the wildcard asterisk, is followed or preceded by zero or more characters.

Buttons for managing the settings

Use the following buttons to manage separations and settings.

Column edit triangle

Where available, click to open the entire column for editing. Specifying a value in any row in that column automatically sets all rows to the same value.

Add Row

Manually add a row for a new separation color. To edit the name, click inside the Color column.

Delete Row

Delete the currently selected row.

Separations—basic screening columns

The Nominal RulingNominal Angle, and Dot Type columns initially display the default values for the specified Workflow software. Determine the settings that were applied when the 1-bit TIFF files were created, and edit these columns accordingly.

This information is used only by the Approval software to determine the correct number of writing lasers, to avoid imaging artifacts.

Note: If you are using only the High Resolution Previewer and not outputting to the proofer, you can ignore these columns.

Nominal Ruling, Nominal Angle

Specify the lines per inch (lpi) and angle settings that were applied when the 1-bit TIFF files were created.

Dot Type

Specify the setting that was applied when the 1-bit TIFF files were created—EuclideanRound, or Elliptical.
