Proofer display area

In Proofer Viewer, the proofer display area is the part of the Queues window that shows the sheet currently being printed and the status of the proofer. When a sheet has finished printing, the sheet and its proofs move to the Trash. Sheets that fail in the proofer are moved back into the Proofer queue.

Held sheets do not enter the proofer display area. If the Proofer queue is paused, no sheets enter the proofer display area.

When a proofer error occurs, an error icon () and error message displays in the proofer display area. The sheet that failed in the proofer moves back into the Proofer queue. For information on troubleshooting the error, click the error message.

Proofer queue area

The Proofer queue is the area in the Queues window that shows all proofs that have been placed on sheets but have not yet been printed. Sheets appear in the Proofer queue in the order that they were created, with the most recent at the bottom. Sheets use one of the proofer layouts. All proofs on a sheet must be configured in the workflow system (Prinergy or Brisque) or in the hot folder or virtual printer (if using the Open Connectivity kit) for the same media type.

All sheets in the Proofer queue are either open or closed. When a sheet is open, it means that the proofer will automatically add proofs to the sheet according to the sheet's layout rules. An open sheet will not start moving up the Proofer queue to be proofed.

When an open sheet can no longer accept new proofs, it automatically closes. Unless it is being held, a closed sheet starts moving up the Proofer queue to be proofed. Proofs on closed sheets are automatically arranged to minimize proofing time. When a proof cannot be placed on an existing sheet, a new open sheet is created.

Open sheets cannot be proofed until they are closed. Sheets of a different media type wait in the Proofer queue until the correct media type is loaded onto the proofer drum.

While the sheet is in the Proofer queue, you can move, delete, hold it or view its thumbnail or sheet details. You can release held sheets. You can do all of these actions to a proof as well (except hold). You cannot change the settings for any proof in the Proofer queue. To keep all sheets from printing, you can pause the queue. Paused queues can be returned to their normal state, by resuming them.
