Symptom

The Proofer prints a large X on certain proofs.

Cause

The process settings attached to the hot folder or virtual printer have the Fail on Missing Fonts option selected. This is a known limitation with the current version of the Proofer Client application.

Solution

Solution 1:

  1. In the creative application that created the page, embed the fonts.
  2. Resubmit the proof.

Solution 2:

  1. Determine which hot folder or virtual printer the original input files were submitted to.
  2. Open the hot folder or virtual printer for editing.
  3. On the Input Filestab, clear the Fail on Missing Fonts
  4. In the Substitution Fontlist, choose a font to substitute for a missing font.
  5. Resubmit the proof.
