To process spot colors for screened DCS files and 1-bit TIFF files, Kodak Proofing Software takes the separation name and searches for the same separation name, as follows:

  • For Matchprint Inkjet proofers, the software searches the color library files. Ensure the separation name is in a color library and that the color library is selected for the hot folder.
  • For Approval proofers, the software searches the selected media configuration file. Ensure the separation name is in the media configuration file and that the media configuration file is selected for the hot folder.

Kodak Proofing Software locates the separation name differently, depending on whether the screened files have master files.

Have master file

For screened DCS files and 1-bit TIFF files with master files, Kodak Proofing Software uses the master file and/or header information to determine the separation names.

Do not have master file

For 1-bit TIFF files without master files, Kodak Proofing Software derives the spot color name from the file name. However, when you select this option, Kodak Proofing Software looks for the separation name in the TIFF information.

Override with TIFF information, if present

Clear for Kodak Proofing Software to use the separation name defined in the file name.

Select for Kodak Proofing Software to look for the separation name in the 1-bit TIFF file header in the following tags in the following order:

  • Photoshop TIFF resource tag
  • TIFF InkNames tag
  • If the TIFF software tag is RASTLIB, and the BitsPerSample tag is 1, then Kodak Proofing Software looks in the ImageDescription tag

If no separation name is found in the 1-bit TIFF file header, Kodak Proofing Software uses the separation name that is defined in the file name.
