Scatter

Creates a layout that arranges proofs to maximize sheet coverage. Scatter layouts do not necessarily arrange proofs in grids of uniformly spaced horizontal and vertical proof areas, unless that is the most efficient arrangement.

Oversize Proofs: Drop Marks First

Specifies whether to eliminate the label, color bar, and caption before cropping the image to make the proof fit in the imageable area on the sheet.

Note: By default, an image is cropped equally on all four sides. However, for grid layouts, you can use the Image Position settings to control how the software crops the image. For example, if you select the Top Left position for the image, the software leaves the top-left sides of the image and crops the bottom-right sides of the image.

If you selected Reduce to Fit Media on the Hot Folders Output Settings tab (open connectivity) or a similar setting in a workflow process template (direct connectivity), then the image would already be reduced and the image and marks would fit on the sheet.

Oversize Proofs: Crop Image First

Specifies whether to crop the image to make the proof fit in the imageable area on the sheet.By default, an image is cropped equally on all fours sides. If you select to have a caption, the image is cropped even more to allow space for the caption.

Note: For grid layouts, you can use the Image Position settings to control how the software crops the image. For example, if you select the Top Left position for the image, the software leaves the top-left sides of the image and crops the bottom-right sides of the image if necessary.

If you selected Reduce to Fit Media in the Hot Folders Output Settings tab (open connectivity) or a similar setting in a workflow process template (direct connectivity), then the image would already be reduced and would fit on the page.

Oversize Proofs: Fail on Download

Specifies whether to fail the proof before it is processed rather than drop marks or crop the image to make the image fit in the imageable area on the sheet.

If you selected Reduce to Fit Media in the Hot Folders Output Settings tab, then the image would already be reduced to fit in the imageable area.

When you select the Certified Process for Color Confirmation check box, the Fail on Download option is automatically selected, and you cannot change it.

Allow Rotate to Fit

Specifies whether to create a layout that automatically rotates the proof to best fit the sheet.

When enabled, the Allow Rotate to Fit option requires the render resolution setting for the media configuration to be symmetrical, for example 720 × 720 dpi. When the render resolution setting is asymmetrical, for example 1440 × 720 dpi, proofs are not rotated to fit the sheet, even when you select the Allow Rotate to Fit option. Use the Media Configuration Editor to set and view render resolution settings for media configuration files.

When enabled, the Allow Rotate to Fit option requires the render resolution setting for the media configuration to be symmetrical. When the render resolution setting is asymmetrical, proofs are not rotated to fit the sheet, even when you select the Allow Rotate to Fit option.

Align for Guillotine

Specifies whether to create a layout that arranges proofs to allow at least one straight cut through the entire sheet from left to right. This arrangement makes it easier to cut the sheet into individual proofs. If you do not plan to cut the sheet, turn off this option to maximize sheet coverage.

Allow scattering from different workflow systems

If selected, any proofs that meet the following criteria for mixing proofs on a layout automatically will be combined:

  • Each media configuration uses the same laydown order.
  • Each hot folder uses the same layout.
  • The screening settings must be compatible.

Any setting that is determined by the workflow selection is ignored. The software will start a new sheet for any proofs that do not match the criteria.

Close Sheet After Certain Percentage Full (%)

Sets the minimum sheet coverage required before the sheet automatically closes and proceeds through the queue.

Sheet coverage = imageable area - (proof areas + color bars)

Close Sheet if Next Proof Doesn't Fit

Sets the layout to automatically close the sheet if the next proof is too big to fit on the sheet. Closed sheets proceed through the queue.

Sheet coverage = imageable area - (proof areas + color bars)

Close sheet after time expires (minutes)

Sets the layout to automatically close the sheet after the number of minutes that you enter in this box. The sheet is closed after <xx> minutes from the first addition of a proof. Adding more proofs does not reset the number of minutes.
