You can back up existing proofing data for reuse at a new proofer controller workstation. The person installing the new system will need access to the backup data.
Note: Support for virtual printers is not available on the Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Windows Vista, and Microsoft Windows 7 or later operating systems. If the current configuration uses an Open Connectivity Kit license with virtual printers, consider creating hot folders from virtual printers.

Creating hot folders by copying virtual printers

Virtual printers are not supported on 64-bit Windows systems. If you copy a virtual printer, you can save it as a hot folder, and the original settings are retained. You can then delete the virtual printer.

  1. (Optional) Create a data backup to store in an archive location.
Tip: Append the default file name with _VP to indicate that it contains the virtual printers.
  2. In Proofer Viewer, select Configure > Hot Folders / Virtual Printers.
  3. In the Hot Folders / Virtual Printers dialog box, select a virtual printer.
  4. Click Copy.
  5. In the Name box, accept or edit the default name that appears.
The default name consists of the original name appended with _copy, which you might, for example, change to _hf.
  6. In the File Input Type area, select Hot Folder, and click OK.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Use steps 1-7 to create as many hot folders as needed, and then delete the original virtual printers:
    1. In the Hot Folders / Virtual Printers dialog box, select a virtual printer, and click Delete.
    2. Click Yes to confirm.
    3. Repeat until all the virtual printers are deleted.
  9. When you finish creating the hot folders and deleting the virtual printers, create another data backup.
Tip: Append the default file name with _HF to indicate this file contains the new hot folders.
