When you select a color-handling preset, the relevant options become available in the Process Settings dialog box.

CMYK with spots press is final output

This preset configures the system to convert all process (CMYK) colors to an industry-standard simulation space, such as Fogra, SWOP, or GRACOL, and to preserve all spot color values. This means that the proof will match a press that has a separate unit for spot colors, as long as the spot color is within the broad gamut of the proofer.

Note: If the spot colors are constructed with CMYK values in the input file, you must use the Color Database Editor to preserve those CMYK recipes. Spot colors constructed with L*a*b* values, however, will be preserved.

CMYK press is final output, separated input

This preset configures the system to recombine the separated input files, and then convert all process (CMYK) and spot colors to an industry-standard press space, such as Fogra, SWOP, or GRACOL. This means that all spot colors are converted to CMYK values.

CMYK press is final output

This preset configures the system to convert all process (CMYK) and spot colors to an industry-standard press space, such as Fuji, Matchprint, or DuPont Cromalin press spaces. This means that all spot colors are converted to CMYK values.

Remove spots from proof output

This preset configures the processor settings to convert all process (CMYK) colors to an industry-standard press space, such as Fogra, SWOP, or GRACOL, but removes spot colors from the output. This means that the spot color locations will either be blank or will show what is under the spot color on the final proof.

Proofer is final output

This preset configures the system to map all colors (spot and process) to the gamut of the proofer, which is a much broader gamut than a CMYK press gamut.
