This feature allows you to configure how many times to print and measure an optimization chart. Your options include:

Don't optimize more than this number of tries

If you have set up automatic calibration, this option helps you avoid using more media than expected. After the maximum number of optimization rounds are complete, the Precision Color Calibration wizard stops, regardless of whether the calibration is within tolerance.

When measurements are within tolerance, accept calibration

This option allows you to specify when the Precision Color Calibration wizard should accept a calibration. You have two choices:

  • immediately instructs the Precision Color Calibration wizard to accept the calibration as soon as the spectrophotometer measurement values are less than the tolerance numbers.

  • when no further optimization improvement is likely (lowest error) instructs the Precision Color Calibration wizard to continue optimizing the calibration to pursue lower spectrophotometer measurement numbers. The Precision Color Calibration wizard will accept the calibration when it is unlikely to achieve lower measurement numbers.

To edit the number of optimization tries:

  1. In Proofer Viewer, from the Configure menu, select Media Configuration.
  2. Select a media configuration, and click Edit.
  3. Click the Calibration tab.
  4. In the Effort area, configure one of these options:

    • In the Don't optimize more than this number of tries box, specify how many times to print and measure an optimization chart.

    • For the When measurements are within tolerance, accept calibration option, specify when the Precision Color Calibration wizard should accept a calibration. Select either:

      • immediately
      • when no further optimization improvement is likely (lowest error)
  5. Click Save.
