For effective implementation of inkjet proofing features, the device firmware must be up to date on the Epson Stylus Pro printer.
Requirements:
- Correct printer driver installed for the printer model and operating system
- If the printer is not already connected to the Internet and your computer, follow the instructions in the Epson documentation to connect the printer and turn it on.
Tip: Print a test page to verify the connection. - On the front panel of the Epson printer, press the Menu button, press the down arrow until Printer Status appears in the window, and then press the Menu button again to display the currently installed firmware version. Write down this version number.
- At the computer, go to the support area of the Epson Web site at http://www.epson.com/, and locate the page that contains the drivers and downloads for the applicable printer model.
- On that page, locate the most recent firmware version. (Firmware is not specific to the controller’s operating system.)
- If the latest firmware version is the same as the currently installed version, the printer's firmware does not need to be upgraded. You can skip the remaining steps.
- If the most recent firmware version is later than the currently installed version, go to the next step to complete the firmware upgrade.
- If more than one download file seems suitable, expand and read the descriptions of all the candidates to identify the correct one.
Important: Select carefully—most firmware upgrades cannot be uninstalled or rolled back. - Download the firmware file to an accessible location.
- Identify and download any additional software that might be required for installing the firmware and managing the printer, such as an updated printer utility.
- In the support area of the Epson Web site, locate and download the documentation (printer guide or user guide) that contains the instructions for installing these files.
- To install the firmware, follow the instructions in the Epson documentation.
